World of Opera's Santa Fe Tour
August 11-17, 2014
Join World of Opera host, Lisa Simeone, for a magical opera tour to Santa Fe! You will have prime seats to at least four performances at the world-renowned Festival, including new productions of Bizet’s scintillating Carmen, Beethoven’s great opera Fidelio, Donizetti’s madcap Don Pasquale, and an ingenious double-bill of Mozart’s The Impresario and Stravinsky’s Le Rossignol, all in Santa Fe’s glorious, partially outdoor setting.
Nestled 7000 feet above sea level in the foothills of the Rockies, Santa Fe is one of America’s oldest cities and boasts a rich cultural heritage. Founded as a capital city in 1607 by Spanish explorers, it has been claimed by the Pueblo peoples, the Spanish crown, Mexico and the Confederacy. Today it is a sophisticated city, famous for its diverse cultures, museums and galleries, outstanding cuisine and the Santa Fe Opera.
During the day we will make excursions in and around Santa Fe to explore both Native American and Spanish sites, such as an ancient and modern pueblo, artisan workshops, museums and galleries. We’ll also celebrate famed American artist Georgia O’Keeffe with a private visit to her home in Abiquiu and view the dramatic landscapes she painted.
Meanwhile, you will enjoy deluxe accommodations at the Inn and Spa at Loretto just a couple blocks off the Santa Fe’s central Plaza, fine dining at area restaurants, and share the commentary of our own Lisa Simeone.
