WDAV Announces New Weekday On‑Air Schedule
April 6, 2026
Last February, when Mike McKay retired as WDAV’s morning announcer, it left a pretty big hole in our schedule. How do you follow an act like Mike who has been a beloved companion for listeners for 28 years? After taking some time to think about options for staffing the mornings and the rest of the day, I’m pleased to be able to share our new schedule at long last. Before I do that though, I want to give Joe Brant a huge shout out. Joe stepped in to host the 5-10 a.m. shift on an interim basis which has made this transition so much easier. He’s also beloved by WDAV listeners, and we can’t thank him enough for coming out of retirement to lend his warm and friendly voice to the first waking hours of the day.
Without further adieu, here’s the new weekday line-up:

Midnight – 6 a.m., The Early Shift with Ted Weiner.
Ted will continue to hold down the fort overnight with The Early Shift. He always has the right blend of music for whatever night owls are doing in the wee hours whether it’s working, enjoying some quiet time, or battling insomnia.

6 a.m. – 10 a.m., Classical Music with Phil Vavra.
Phil has been doing a great job hosting WDAV’s afternoons during the past year. Both his Road to Joy selections and WDAV Supper Club have provided a great musical backdrop to listeners’ activities at a transitional time of day. He’ll bring that same energy and creativity to mornings when folks are getting ready to go about their day. Listen for the Coffee Cup Concert at 7 a.m., a chance to hear music recorded live in concert. On Thursdays, an audio version of his FanFare blog column will give you the low down on interesting events and happenings in the area. And he has more ideas coming soon for interesting ways to showcase the music in the mornings.

10 a.m. – 1 p.m., Classical Music with Rachel Stewart.
I’m staying put and will continue to enjoy sharing the Pause for Reflection at 11 a.m. and the Mozart Cafe in the noon hour.

1 p.m. – 4 p.m., Classical Music with Myelita Melton.
Myelita is staying put as well. You’ll still be able to enjoy the One O’Clock Waltz, Midday Masterpiece at 2 p.m., and the Pause for Reflection at 3 p.m. with her as she keeps you company and shares all her great classical music knowledge.

4 p.m. – 8 p.m., Classical Music with Frank Dominguez.
Current Night Music host Frank Dominguez is moving into the afternoon drivetime slot taking over for Phil. He’ll continue to share the Road to Joy at 5 p.m. every afternoon and the WDAV Supper Club in the 6 o’clock hour. You can also expect to continue to have fun with CarTunes in the Friday 5 o’clock hour. And of course, Frank will bring his enjoyable warmth and expertise to late afternoons as you move from the workday to evening activities.

8 p.m. – Midnight, Classical Music and The Night Music with Keenan Harmon.
Keenan Harmon will be taking over The Night Music, and his soothing voice and chill demeanor are perfect for that time of the evening. He’ll be a great companion for you as you wind down and end the day. Keenan will also continue to share the Evening Opus, a full length masterwork, every night at 8 p.m.
