Handel’s Organ Concertos
Program: Biscuits & Bach
Aired: Sunday, October 27, 2019 @ 7:00 am
Hosted by Rachel Stewart
Handel's last set of organ concertos, his Op. 7, was composed in London between 1740 and 1751. They weren't published, however, until after his death in 1761.
Richard Egarr and the Academy of Ancient Music recorded these late Handel works in 2009 with Egarr using a chamber organ owned by the Handel House Museum which is a replica of one used by Handel. This week we'll listen to several of these excellent compositions including "The Cuckoo and the Nightingale" concerto.
